Abstract: The aims of this cross-sectional descriptive study were to investigate the expectation in life and relationships between expectation and social support of drug addict patients at Thanyarak Institute. The sample was composed of 250 patients who attended the rehabilitation and were processed according to the Narcotic Addicts Rehabilitation Act, B.E. 2545. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection from July to September 2007. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, multiple regression and variance. The majority of patients were male (67.7%), with an age range between 20-29 years (53.2%), single (60%), primary education level (48%), general employees (63.2%) and with a family income from 5,001-10,000 baht (53.2%), The patients were mostly methamphetamine addicts (94%) and over a third had used drugs from 2 years (38.8%). Most had warm family relationships (87.2%), just under a third lived with their parents (30.4%). Most of the patients had a high level of expectations in life (78.8%). Patients who had significant family income and family relationships had better expectations than the others (P< 0.05). Expectation in life was significantly related to information support and appraisal support significantly (P< 0.05). The findings suggest that family, community, and therapists should understand the expectations in life of addict patients together with providing love, care and forgiveness. Abstract: การวิจัยเชิงบรรยายครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อการศึกษาความคาดหวังในการดำเนิน ชีวิตของผู้ป่วยยาเสพติด กลุ่มตัวอย่างเป็นผู้ป่วยที่เข้ารับการฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพตามพระราชบัญญัติ ฟื้นฟูสมรรถภาพผู้ติดยาเสพติด พ.ศ.2545 ในสถาบันธัญญารักษ์ จำนวน 250 คน ระหว่างเดือน กรกฎาคมถึงเดือนกันยายน พ.ศ. 2550 โดยใช้แบบสอบถามเป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บรวบรวม ข้อมูล และทำการวิเคราะห์โดยใช้ค่าสถิติบรรยาย และการวิเคราะห์ถดถอยพหุคูณ (Multiple Regression Analysis) การวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวน (ANOVA) ผลการศึกษาพบว่าผู้ป่วยยาเสพติดส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศชาย (67.7%) มีอายุระหว่าง 20- 29 ปี (53.2%) สถานภาพเป็นโสด(60%) มีการศึกษาระดับประถมศึกษา(48%) มีอาชีพรับจ้าง (63.2 %) รายได้ของครอบครัวอยู่ระหว่าง 5,001-10,000 บาท (53.2%) ใช้ยาเสพติดประเภท ยาบ้า (94%) เวลาที่ติดสารเสพติดอยู่ระหว่าง 2-5 ปี (38.8%) ความสัมพันธ์ในครอบครัวรักใคร่ กันดี (87.2%) และผู้ป่วยอาศัยอยู่กับบิดาและมารดา (30.4%) รายได้ของครอบครัวและ ความสัมพันธ์ในครอบครัวต่างกัน มีความคาดหวังในการดำเนินชีวิตต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทาง สถิติ (P<0.05) ระดับความคาดหวังในการดำเนินชีวิตของผู้ป่วยยาเสพติดอยู่ในระดับสูง (78.8%) แรงสนับสนุนทางสังคมด้านข้อมูลข่าวสารและด้านการประเมินมีความความสัมพันธ์กับความ คาดหวังในการดำเนินชีวิตของผู้ป่วยยาเสพติด อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (P<0.05) จากการวิจัย ครั้งนี้มีข้อเสนอแนะว่า สมาชิกในครอบครัว ชุมชน และสังคม และทีมผู้บำบัด ควรเข้าใจความ คาดหวังในชีวิตของผู้ป่วยยาเสพติด ให้ความรัก ความห่วงใย ให้อภัยในความผิดพลาด และให้ ความสำคัญกับการให้ข้อมูลข่าวสารรวมทั้งการประเมินที่ดี เป็นประโยชน์ ต่อความคาดหวังใน ชีวิต และป้องกันการกลับมาติดซ้ำ
