ERP development for SMEs case study : Likit Advertizing Company & L.K. Plastic Company
Abstract:
The main objective of this study is to produce a new Enterprise Resource Planning System(ERP) to replace an outdated paper-based system, to create a new pricing calculation program and to produce a report generator system for a plastic production business.
The ERP system was constructed by using Microsoft Visual Basic V.6, which supports business operations in many business activities such as cataloging, customer information, supplier information, sales, orders, accounting and inventory management. The application uses a stored database that uses Microsoft SQL Sever 2000.
The ERP system can be used by three different levels of users, the managers, sales and accountants. Each level of staff involved in this system was a different limitation of tasks.
A questionnaire was used to measure user satisfaction of the overall graphic user interface, system efficiency, and elicit problems and suggestions. The average results of the evaluation reached a highly satisfied opinion level indicating that users were satisfied with the new ERP system instead of the outdated paper system. It can be concluded that the objectives of the study were accomplished.
