The information system readiness to support the universal coverage assurance system in region 4 community hospitals
Abstract:
The newly established Universal Coverage Assurance (UCA) health care system
of Thailand will improve the quality of people’s lives. However, the information system
for the UCA is critically important for the implementation and performance of the
system. The UCA information system should be integrated with the Hardware,
Software, Network and People ware. Therefore, it was considered necessary to study the
readiness of the information system that supports the UCA system.
The objectives of this research were to study the readiness of the information
system resources and administrator’s vision regarding support for the UCA in
community hospitals. The sample covered eight 30 to 120 bed size community hospitals
in 7 provinces in region 4 of Thailand. The analyses of the data consisted of descriptive
statistics, an independent sample t-test and a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA).
The results of this study showed a moderate level of readiness for people ware and
a high level of readiness for IS resources (Hardware, Software, and Network). The
administration’s vision to implement IT for UCA support is generally slightly positive
