Abstract: The objectives of this research were to analyze, design and develop an Athletic Competition Organizing System (ACOS) using client/server technology and a relational database. The system is expected to decrease mistakes and increase the efficiency of organizing an athletic competition. In this research, Microsoft Access 97 was used for creating the system database. Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise Edition (SP5) was used for developing the application program interfaces, running under Microsoft Windows XP. The ACOS consists of five functions, i.e. main menu, programme making, processing result, retrieving information and system administrator. Users in the system are divided into three levels: administrator, technical officer and general user. After testing and evaluation of the system by specialists in organizing athletic competitions, the results showed that the ACOS decreases mistakes in programme making and processing results. In addition, the ACOS increases the efficiency of athletic competition organizing. Finally, further development of extension functions and internet functions are recommended for future work.

Abstract: การวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อ วิเคราะห์, ออกแบบ และ พัฒนา ระบบการจัดการแข่งขัน กรีฑา (Athletic Competition Organizing System: ACOS) บนเทคโนโลยีไคลเอนต์/ เซิร์ฟเวอร์ และ ระบบฐานข้อมูลเชิงสัมพันธ์ ระบบที่ได้จากงานวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีจุดมุ่งหมายในการลด ข้อผิดพลาด และเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการจัดการแข่งขันกรีฑาให้ดีขึ้น การพัฒนาระบบฐานข้อมูลกรีฑาสำหรับการจัดการแข่งขันนี้ ใช้ Microsoft Access 97 สำหรับการจัดการฐานข้อมูล ส่วน Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise Edition (SP5) ใช้ ในการพัฒนาโปรแกรมส่วนที่ติดต่อกับผู้ใช้ ภายใต้ระบบปฏิบัติการ Windows XP ระบบ ฐานข้อมูลกรีฑาสำหรับการจัดการแข่งขัน ประกอบด้วย 5 ส่วนหลัก ได้แก่ เมนูหลัก, จัดตารางการ แข่งขัน, ประมวลผลการแข่งขัน, ค้นคืนข้อมูลการแข่งขัน และ การบริหารระบบ โดยได้ทำการแบ่ง ผู้ใช้งานในระบบเป็น 3 ระดับ คือ ผู้บริหารระบบ, เจ้าหน้าที่จัดการแข่งขัน และ ผู้ใช้งานทั่วไป หลังจากที่ได้ทำการทดสอบและประเมินระบบ โดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญการจัดการแข่งขันกรีฑาแล้ว พบว่า ระบบที่พัฒนาขึ้น สามารถลดความผิดพลาดในการจัดตารางการแข่งขันและการประมวลผล การแข่งขัน นอกจากนั้น ยังเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการจัดการแข่งขันกรีฑา สำหรับข้อเสนอแนะใน การวิจัยในอนาคต คือ การพัฒนาส่วนขยายของระบบเพิ่มเติม และ การพัฒนาเพื่อการใช้งานบน อินเตอร์เน็ต
