Noncommissioned police officer expectations of leadership behavior, following the Thailand international public sectors standard management system and outcom (P.S.O.1107)
Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study the expectations of
noncommissioned police officers of the Provincial Police Region 1 concerning
leadership behavior of the Chief of the provincial police station following the
Thailand International Public Sector Standard Management System and Outcome
(P.S.O.1107). Two hundred and eighty-one noncommissioned police officers were
selected as sample in this study. Data were collected by using questionnaire. The
data were analyzed by using SPSS for Windows. Statistic method, used in this
study included percentage , mean , standard deviation and Chi-square.
The result of this study showed that, based on PSO.1107 most
noncommissioned police officers expected developed leadership in their chief,
followed by executive leadership behavior and bureaucrat leadership behavior.
It was also found that age, income, work duration, education and
knowledge of P.S.O.1107 were significantly related to expectations of
noncommissioned police officers on the leadership behavior of their chiefs. From
the results of this study, it can be suggested that The Royal Thai Police should
provide P.S.O 1107 information to noncommissioned police officers so that they
can clearly understand the system. However, the commander should give an
opportunity to noncommissioned police officers to express their opinions in the
aspect of PSO.1107
