Abstract:
The objective of this study was to develop and implement a map application and a map corresponding search application. The map was designed to give people their location and possible routes to their destinations in Metropolitan Bangkok by using
GPS technology. This work researched J2ME technology, which is the platform of JAVA, and mobile phone technology. A coding editor tool was used to develop the application and J2ME Wireless Toolkit was used in order to test it. The main testing environment was PC, in which the application was run to access the mobile phones database. The application was tested and evaluated by users who were tourists or travelers. The users rated the interface at the very good level, the applications response time as mediocre, and user acceptance as very good. All things considered, the application can specify the position of users and choose the best route to their destination but improvements should be made is response time."
