A feasibility study of web-based for order tracking in supply chain management : a case study in the fabric textile industry
Abstract:
Investors need to study the feasibility of a project before investing. The purpose of this research, therefore, is to study the feasibility of investing in web-based technology for order tracking system in the fabric textile industry. This feasibility study included a technical study, an operational study, and a financial study. This study also analyzed and evaluated different components for preparing the web-base, formulated an implementation plan, and calculated the cost of investment for a period of 4 years. The order tracking system in this research consisted of 11 sub-systems, namely: the Information Searching system, the Administration system, the Sales and Credit Evaluation system, the Color Order system, the Order Purchasing system, the Weaving Plan system, the Dyeing Plan system, the Weaving Production system, the Dyeing Production system, the Delivery system, the Invoice system, and the Administrator system. Web-based technology is useful for integrating and sharing information in Supply Chain Management. Although there are many alternatives, web-based technology seems to be the best option for the fabric textile industry which comprises many small and medium enterprises (SMEs)
