The purposes of this research were to study teh writing ability and social skills of grade eleven students who were taught by the collaborative writing activities. The target group was grade 11 students taking the English reading adn writing course (ENG025) in the first semester of the academic year 2006 at Chiang Mai Adventis Academy. The experimental instrument consisted of 6 lesson plans using collaborative writing activities. The data collecting instrument were writing skills assessment forms on topics assigned by the instructor, and a social skills assessment. The data obtained were analyzed by using mean percentage and standard deviation.The fidings were as follows;
1. The students' writing skills passed the criteria at a moderate level after learning through the use of collaborative writing activities.
2. The students' social skills increased after learning throught the use of collaborative writing activities.
