Abstract: ซอฟต์แวร์โปรดักต์ไลน์ได้รับการยอมรับว่าเป็นกระบวนทัศน์สำคัญทางด้านวิศวกรรมระบบซอฟต์แวร์ในช่วงหลายปีที่ผ่านมามีการนำเสนอระเบียบแบบแผนและวิธีการจำนวนมากสำหรับสนับสนุนการพัฒนาระบบซอฟต์แวร์ที่มีพื้นฐานการพัฒนาแบบโปรดักต์ไลน์ อย่างไรก็ตามการพัฒนาแบบโปรดักต์ไลน์ยังคงมีความยุ่งยากในเชิงปฏิบัติ จึงกลายเป็นคำถามว่าวิธีการพัฒนาระบบซอฟต์แวร์แบบโปรดักต์ไลน์นั้นก่อให้เกิดประโยชน์และยืดหยุ่นมากกว่าการพัฒนาที่ใช้แม่แบบการพัฒนาระบบซอฟต์แวร์แบบดั้งเดิมอย่างแม่แบบน้ำตกหรือไม่ งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้พิจารณาแง่มุมเชิงปริมาณและคุณภาพของการพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์ที่ได้โดยเปรียบเทียบระหว่างการพัฒนาโดยประยุกต์ใช้โปรดักต์ไลน์และน้ำตก งานวิจัยนี้นำเสนอการทำโครงการเชิงศึกษาผ่านกระบวนการแบบโปรดักต์ไลน์และน้ำตก มีการสำีรวจและสัมภาษณ์เพื่อวัดความพึงพอใจของผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องในการพัฒนาระบบซอฟต์แวร์ มีการวัดเวลาที่ใช้ไปและวัดข้อผิดพลาดที่เกิดขึ้นระหว่างขั้นตอนการพัฒนาและบำรุงรักษาระบบซอฟต์แวร์ นอกจากนี้งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ได้อธิบายประสบการณ์และปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นของวิศวกรรมความต้องการและการจัดการความต้องการระหว่างการดำเนินโครงการพัฒนาซอฟต์แวร์แบบโปรดักต์ไลน์และแบบเดี่ยว
