Abstract: The purpose of this study was to analyze errors of Thai English teachers' writing. The subjects were 20 Thai English teachers from seven secondary schools in Muang and Warinchamrab districts, Ubon Ratchathani province, and narrative writing was used as an instrument. The study focused on the basic English structures, which include tenses, punctuation, singular VS plural nouns, subject-verb agreement, and fragments. The frequency of each error was determined and analyzed. Then some possible explanations to account for those errors were given. The results revealed that Thai English teachers had problems in all aspects of the basic English structures and the levels of the problems were respectively significantly different. It was also found that the subject teachers made quite many errors besides the focused ones in their compositions. Such errors included diction, prepositions and articles. The L1 influenced most errors.

Abstract: การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อวิเคราะห์ข้อผิดพลาดในการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษของครูผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษในระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษา กลุ่มประชากรตัวอย่างในการศึกษาครั้งนี้ได้แก่ครูผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษโรงเรียนมัธยมศึกษาในอำเภอเมืองและอำเภอวารินชำราบ จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี จำนวน 20 คน โดยมีการเขียนเล่าเรื่องเป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บข้อมูล หัวข้อสำคัญที่ศึกษาได้แก่โครงสร้างพื้นฐานของภาษาอังกฤษซึ่งประกอบด้วย tenses,เครื่องหมายวรรคตอน, นามเอกพจน์-พหูพจน์, subject-verb agreement และ fragments วิธีการศึกษาได้จำแนกหาความถี่ของข้อผิดพลาดที่พบแล้วทำการวิเคราะห์ หลังจากนั้นจึงอภิปรายถึงสาเหตุที่เป็นไปได้ของข้อผิดพลาดเหล่านั้นผลของการศึกษาพบว่าครูผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษในระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษา มีข้อผิดพลาดในการเขียนเกี่ยวกับเรื่องโครงสร้างพื้นฐานของภาษาอังกฤษทุกประเภทที่ศึกษาและระดับปัญหาของข้อผิดพลาดเหล่านั้นแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญเรียงตามลำดับ นอกจากนี้ครูภาษาอังกฤษยังมีข้อผิดพลาดในการเขียนนอกเหนือจากหัวข้อที่ศึกษาอีกเป็นจำนวนค่อนข้างมาก ตัวอย่าง เช่น ข้อผิดพลาดในการเลือกใช้คำ บุพบท และการใช้ articles อิทธิพลของภาษาแม่เป็นสาเหตุของข้อผิดพลาดส่วนใหญ่
