The use of phrase-spaced reading to teach reading comprehension
Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to analyze errors of Thai English teachers' writing. The subjects were 20 Thai English teachers from seven secondary schools in Muang and Warinchamrab districts, Ubon Ratchathani province, and narrative writing was used as an instrument. The study focused on the basic English structures, which include tenses, punctuation, singular VS plural nouns, subject-verb agreement, and fragments. The frequency of each error was determined and analyzed. Then some possible explanations to account for those errors were given. The results revealed that Thai English teachers had problems in all aspects of the basic English structures and the levels of the problems were respectively significantly different. It was also found that the subject teachers made quite many errors besides the focused ones in their compositions. Such errors included diction, prepositions and articles. The L1 influenced most errors.
