The relationship between personal factors, severity level, depression, social support and functional status of myocardial infarction patients in Nakohn sawan province
Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between personal factor, severity level, depression, social support and functional status of myocardial patients. The 97 people living with myocardial infarction were recruited from the out patient department of the Sawanpracharak hospital in Nakhon Sawan provinces. Self - reported questionnaires including demographic data and functional status. The Pwersonal Resource Ouestionaire: PRQ Part 2 and Zung Self - Rating Depression Scale were used to collect data rrom frebuery to march 2007. Data was analyzed using frequencies, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson, s Correlation Coeffients. The findings showed that myocardial infarction patients had the percentage of severity level in class II at 53.6 (SD = 0.57). The percentage of means score of functional status at 83.5 (SD = 19.68). The most of percentage of functional status at 75.26. The percentage of means score of social support at 88.1 (SD = 9.76). The most of percentage of social at 55.7. The depression ranged from 27.5 to 73.75 with the mean of 54 (SD = 9.14). The most of percentage of depression at 39.2 Age, severity level and depression were negatively correlated with functional status(r = -.460, p < .01), (r = -.498, p < .01), (r = -.474, p < .05). Education, income and the social support were positively correlated with functional status. (r = .369, p < .01), (r = .353, p < .01), (r = .412, p < .01). Gender has no relationship with functional status. Findings of this research suggested that health care provider should have knowledge about myocardial infarction care, aware of factor of functional status in myocardial infarction patients and used the information to improve nursing intervention for myocardial infarction patients by increasing social support and decreasing depression.
