Abstract:
The objective of this thesis is to study the problem on routing management of trailer truck volume in a private company, Laem Chabang berth. The background of problem cames from a continual increase of containers in every year while the facilities are limited such as the linited number of trailor truck to transport containers in the berth. As the volume of transport containers in each day is not exactly fixed, the volume often fluctuates. Somedays, the berthe is fulled with vessels discharging and loading and makes it necessary to use whole 8 crances for both transport export and import containers which causes trailer truck insufficiency, and consequent problems. Nowadays, the problems are solved by renting trucks from outside which increases the cost and also the risk of driving accidents in the container yard. The researcher is interested in studying the Problem solving on trailer truck routing management in Laem Chabang Berth by working balance method". The aim is to find the most appropriate way in truck management. The old tailor truck management systems are studied and adjusted by designing the new tailor truck management system methods; those are working balance method, finding a bottleneck and setting up balance to compare the achievement result between the old method and the new method in order to use the trucks with fully efficientcy and capability to accommodate the truck using requirement in the normal period and peak periods. The result of the study on efficiency of working of equipment, reveals that efficient planning of all working equipment can wipe out waiting and decrease back haul trailer truck running Efficient routing enables trailor trucks to work in full capability and decrease trailor using demand from 48 trucks to only 24 trucks to support the cranes at berth. That is 50% reduction form the previous requirement.
