A Study of relationship between personal status and academic achievement of pratomsuksa 5 students under the office of Rayong provincial primary education
Abstract:
This study was aimed to find the relationship between personal status and academic achievement of students, to differentiate levels of the relationship and, finally, to find out the percentage of students who posess weight and height within standard range and the ones with lower measurements than the standard range. All of these procedures were carried out in accordance with the parents' profession and educational status.The sample used in this study comprised 382 students who studied in Prathomsuksa 5 in public elementary schools in Rayong Province. The instrument utilized in order to data was a questionnaire concerning students' personal status. Co-relation, chi-square Contingency Coefficient and percentage were major statistical devices used in analysis. The results of the study were the following :-1. Personal status of students according to the educational status of the parents co-related positively with academic achievement at the statistical significance of 0.01. Students' weight co-related positively with academic achievement at the statistical significance of 0.05. Parents' profession co-related positively with academic achievement at the statistical significance of 0.05. Bur students' height and academic achievement had no significant co-relations at all.2. The levels of relationship between the students' personal status and academic achievement, when arranged from maximum to munimum, were parents' educational status, students' weight, parents' profession, and students' height, respectively.3. Students' weight and height within the standard range, when arranged according to the percentage of parents' profession from maximum to minimum, were government service, shop keeping, fishing laboring or wage earning, and farming, respectively. 4. Students' weight and height within the standard range, when arranged according to the percentage of parents' educational status from maximum to munimum, were college level, secondary school level, and elementaly school level, respectively.
