Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to study the according to power of prediction on death anxiety among elderly in Chonburi province from gender, marital status, number of deceased persons that had meaning to their lives, health status percepion, loneliness, self-esteem, religious activities, and spiritual well-being that covered the 4 sections which were the perception of meaning and purpose in life, offering and receiving affection. charity, and relationship with others, granting and receiving forgiveness from the others and hopeful conduct of life. The sample consisted of 196 elderly who lived in Chonburi province not less then two years when the data was collected by multistage samplingm method. The instruments used in this research were interviews on personal data, perceived health status, loneliness, self-esteem, religious activities, spiritual well-being, and death anxiety. The obtained data were analyzed by frequency, arithmetic mean, percentage, standard deviation, correlation between the studies variables, and stepwise multiple regression.The results of this research showed that loneliness, granting and receiving forgiveness from others, religious activities, and perceived meaning and purpose of life could cooperatively predict the death anxiety among elderly at 29.9 percent by which granting and receiving forgiveness from others was the main factor that influenced the power of prediction of death anxiety among elderly the most. From this study an equation for death anxiety among elderly could be written as follow:Death anxiety = 58.128 +.420 (loneliness) -.763 (forfive and receive forgiveness from another) -.388 (religious activities) -.532 (perceived meaning and purpose in life)
