Abstract:
This research is intended to study the level of motivation for working and self - development of the accounting staff of jatujak District Office, and to come up with favorable comments on how to reinforce the sense of motivation for working and self - development. The population of this study consists of 140 people. The data were analyzed statistically in Percentage, Mean, Standard Deviation. T - test and One - Way ANOVA.
Research Findings : The accounting staffs motivation level in part of motivational factors is high ( = 3.48, S.D. = 0.75), while their motivation in part of hygiene factors is at the medium level ( = 3.23, S.D. = 0.89). No difference of motivation levels between the two parts (motivation - hygiene factors) is found in the accounting staff of different personal characteristics such as sex, age, educational background, work experience, and salary, age ranges have an effect on the motivation levels for Self - development and these differences are statistically significant (0.05), while other personal characteristics have no effect on self - development need.
Comments : The management should take action to enhance the staffs motivation for working, by providing them with training and further education in connection with their jobs. A training course on interpersonal skills should be also organized to promote team spirit, which will enable the staff to happily and efficiently cooperate to achieve the organizations goals, and to bring about new learning and experience sharing. These qualities will, in turn, lead to stronger relationships and improved performance in the workplace.
