Results of learning achievement in reading and writing skills by using practical toolkit of Aesop tales for students studying in Prathom suksa 3, the subject group of Thai language, Ban tanee school, Surin educational service area
Abstract:
This research aimed to examine the results of learning achievement in reading and writing skills by using practical toolkit of Aesop Tales for students studying in Prathom Suksa 3, the Subject Group of Thai Language, Ban Tanee School, Surin Educational Service Area Office 3. Its objectives were to find out the efficiency of practical toolkit of Aesop Tales to achieve rated criteria of 80/80 for students studying in Prathom Suksa 3, the subject Group of Thai Language, to compare learning achievement of both pre and post class tests in reading and writing skills by using toolkit of Aesop Tales, to compare learning achievement in reading and writing skills between using practical toolkit of Aesop Tales and regular instruction, and to study students satisfaction in reading and writing skills by using practical toolkit of Aesop Tales for students studying in Prathom Suksa 3, 1st semester of academic year 2008, the Subject Group of Thai Language, Ban Tanee School, Surin Educational Service Area Office 3. They were selected by purposive sampling and divided into an experimental group of 24 students studying in Prathom Suksa 3/2 and control group of 24 students studying in Prathom Suksa 3/1. Reserch contents to be tested were 10 stories of Aesop Tales, which were compiled by Researcher. Researcher tools were 20 learning plans of the practical toolkit of Aesop Tales to practice reading and writing skills for students studying in Prathom Suksa 3, and 10 items plus 90 practices of learning plans of the practical toolkit of Aesop Tales to practice reading and writing skills for students studying in Prathom Suksa 3. Moreover, there were a 40 item form to measure learning achievement in reading and writing skills for students stuying in Prathom Suksa 3. And an 18-item form, to evaluate satisfaction rate of post class by using practical toolkit of Aesop Tales, was used to assess activities of instruction, in class media, evaluation of outcomes and its benefits. Collected data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The research findings were found as follows :
1. The practical toolkit of Aesop Tales , measuring both reading and writing skills of students studying in Prathom Suksa 3, was indicated its efficiency at 81.96/83.02. This rate was higher than the standard criteria of 80/80, which was initially set.
2. Concerning learning achievement in reading and writing skills compared between pre and post class of using the practical toolkit of Aesop Tales amongst students studying in Prathom Suksa 3, the Subject Group of Thai Language, the finding was that the average points of post class test was significantly higher than the average points of pre class test at 0.05.
3. Concerning learning achievement in reading and writing skills compared between using practical toolkit of Aesop Tales and regular instruction, the finding was found that the students studying in Prathom Suksa 3, the Subject Group of Thai Language, who were instructed by the use of the practical toolkit of Aesop Tales were significantly granted their average points higher than those being instructed by the regular one at 0.05.
4. Overall rate of students satisfaction, towards the instruction by using practical toolkit of Aesop Tales in practicing reading and writing skills amongst students studying in Prathom Suksa , was found at high rate.
