Abstract:
Herbs are very useful as alternative medicine, which have been used since the ancient time. In Thailand, there are
largevariety of herbs. Herbs have to be dried for their preservation and development of pharmaceutical product.
Conventional drying technologies use solar radiation, heat from biomass, and electricity. The convention drying process
have problems such as low efficiency and environment have problems. The water molecule inside structure of herbs have a
electric dipole. The dipole moment can absorbs the microwave energy. We have developed large scale microwave heating
system for drying of herbs. The microwave absorb power dominate the quality of final herbs drying products. The
microwave power control can increase quality of dried herbs. Their surface temperature and final physical properties will be
discussed.
